*Selector Jazzy T of Renaissance Sound Kingston*

Popular Renaissance selector Jazzy-T , the one that parties on his B-Day with  the world’s fastest man – Mr. Usain Bolt –  spinning  the tracks  at his  birthday  bash was chilling on MissGaza's couch last night.  It wasn't as fancy as when  DJ Usain Bolt did work alongside Jazzy-T himself,  and a long  list of popular  sounds and selectors including Renaissance, Stone Love, Black Chiney, Richie D. South Floridians,at the Seminole Hardrock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida  this past 17th of January but it was a honor to link with such a great  Dj & Selector,  part of one of the most legendary sound. Jazzy T is Good ppl ,cool & genuine he even drop a shout to MissGaza.
Was fun like it was my b-day, over all when Jazzy T called his homeboy Mr Demarco and passed me the phone. Demarco gifted me his new hot joint "Still a get by" MAAAD CHUNE that is in heavy rotation on my playlist since and Mad Respect to Jamaica and its incredible artists always keeping it real. Big Ups Jazzy T always welcome in my crib!DeMarco Me Giving Thanx!Big Ups all da way Ghost & Gavstar too.

The Renaissance crew are DJFoodie, DJ Smoke, DJ Pepsi, DJ Mykie E and DJ Christuff. Jazzy T,Dr Dre ,DJ Delano and DJ Blaze.

If you are not familiar with the legendary Ranaissance Sound here a brief head up.Renaissance Sound have been in the Sound System business for over 21 years and they are still fresh and killing it on the  dancefloors. Also, i think,  owning  some  of  the best and craziest  Dubplates on the scene now a days.Renaissance's  credo  of  great mixes and less talking,  will  show  excerpts  of a documentary  about  the  sound that is  being  produced  to  commemorate its 20th birthday.
One of the founding members, Delano Thomas, said Renaissance Disco was started  by himself  and  a former  member,  Devon  Chin, in 1989. Other Renaissance pioneers included Mix Master Marvin, Ian, Michael Edwards, Ronald McLean and DJ Marlon (deceased).
Renaissance Disco's first major debut was at a venue on Waterloo Road, where a party  was  being  put on by the original RAS Promotions. Both  Renaissance and Stone Love played at that party .Delano's crew  has been  working on a lot of remixes since their beginning, when they couldn't afford dubplates, till they did the remix of Beenie Man's Dancehall Queen and Bounty Killer's Nitro.
Renaissance Sound System was also get known for breaking hip hop into dancehall .Delano Thomas was the personal deejay for Sean Paul, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man and Born Jamericans, while they were on tour. Renaissance always  kept in touch with the public as it simultaneously played at numerous events in Jamaica and the rest of the world. The sound system has played in countries like Germany, Japan, United Kingdom and throughout the Caribbean.Renaissance Disco now has many different  faces, not only Thomas, with his unmistakable eyepatch, Michael Edwards and Mix Master Marvin, who freelances with the sound system, are the only founding members still in the group. Big Ups Renaissance!

*Boxing Day Extravaganza Kartel Was Not Arrested*

Rumors are once again wrong! Vybz Kartel wasn't arrested this past Sunday  at  club  Building,  in  Kingston,  instead his  biz  manager, Corey  Todd,  that    also manages the Building, was held in costudy for hrs during a raid @ the venue  on Sunday  during  what was supposed to be Kartel in concert,  the  Anti - Sting Boxing Day Extravaganza.
Speaking  with the press, yesterday, Todd  said  that  he feels the Building was unjustly raid by the police for the second timein two weeks.
Todd  explained  that  they  had a massive crowd in line all night from earlier on ( police sources are  talking  about  more  than 3000  people inside  and  3000 in the outside line)  when  the police raided the club with guns  being pulled  in  the air  that  caused  a lot of screaming and panic, also  somebody  got  arrested   and police said they will continue to follow leads  in search for people of interests.
Police also took Mr Corey Todd in custody for many hours and he reported being escorted to New Kingston Police Post while the club was being raided and later he was moved to the Mobile Reserve  and also to the Half Way Tree police station where is american passport was taken from him.
Kartel. who was the most important person of the event, was on his way to the venue when the raid was  conducted and he told the press "I wasn't surprised that the police came to lock off the Building so early while all the other clubs in New Kingston were left unscathed, because I had received a call earlier on a private number from someone claiming that I dissed them and only one show can be staged on Boxing night."

According to Todd, they will be putting on a free concert at the Building next Wednesday to make it up to the fans who were present and didn't get the performances they were promised.

*Bounty Bitching Bout Kartel & more Sting Drama*

MissGaza came across this video ,that summarize all the drama
surrounding  Sting 27 and  that I really suggest you to watch.
Isiah Laing, Sting's Promoter, is still having hope to book Kartel
for the show, so negotiations are still open, till the last minute.
Kartel instead says he will have his own show  in "Da Building",
the same night that Sting is going on, and he talks about a surprise
guest to appear with him. Now, as shocking as it can be, guess who
is that guest? Mavado, the gully god!
Meanwhile  a funny Bounty Killer went on tv accusing Vybz of taking
injections to bleach is skin color and complaining about the high fees
he' s asking for to appear at  Sting, being all friendly  toward his  rival
Beenie Man & other funkiness.
The most interesting part of the video is when the reporters interview
Jamaicans in a busy downtown day in Kingston to hear what they have
to say and most of them are really upset and complaining about Addi &
Mavado missing the central stage.
How all this drama will end up? Stay tuned Sting is approaching soon!

*Better Mus' Come to hit Usa*

"Better Mus' Come" is a movie.
If you are Jamaican or live in Jamaica you probably
already  heard and seen this movie since it premiered
this past October  in local movie theatres.
But if you never heard about it you need to know
because it's a dope movie  and as "Rise Up"  leaves
another landmark into the Jamaican's movie industry
jumpstart and will hit the American market  during
this current month of November.
Jamaican director Storm Saulter gave the movie its title
from Delroy Wilson's song "Better Mus' Come", adopted
by Prime Minister Michael Manley of the People's National
Party as a campaign theme song during 1972 General Election.
The campaign painted Manley's vision of some sort of
economic socialism aligned with Cuba, versus Labor Party's
Edward Seaga and his alliance with United States.
Usa didn't want another communist nation in his backyard
and begun a series of wars throughout America Latina and
the Caribbean which left the local communities living in the
front lines in  critical and terrible conditions.
This movie proves the political underpinnings of Jamaica's
crime and poverty issues with raw authority.
The main character, Ricky, is a community leader whose gang
is aligned to the JLP and in his community, just one  street
over there is another gang that is aligned to the PNP,
 the ruling party.

This isn’t a movie glorifying the “badman,” like so many
other  Jamaican films, it’s really about the cause and effect
of violence and shows the roots of today’s gang conflicts.
Also it describes well communism versus capitalism, uptown
versus downtown situation with C.I.A. involvments.
"Better Must' Come" is a dramatic telling of the Green Bay
Massacre, ghetto life and political deception of that time.
The 1977-78 portrait of Jamaica that comes out is of a country
in the middle of a cold war with energy problems and water
problems, curruption, murders, scandals, that gave birth to
the violence gripping the streets of Kingston then and now.
The director of this movie had no problem multi-tasking,
being editor, director, writer and cinematographer.
He was a long time assistant for video director Little X
and worked in the North American Film Industry but it
was his homeland that inspired him to create his first full
length  film about bipartisan conflict (from which originated
the beef Gully/Gaza).
Storm Saulter is also part of a project called New Carribean
Cinema that involves communal film making and surely
there will be soon some exciting news about their upcoming
projects. He took 3 years to ultimate this film and went around
involving people in the local communities where he was filming
to work with the project as security, production and so on.
Check out the official trailer and the famous song that inspired
the movie's title. It's really dope and worth a listening.
Bless!

*Rise Up a *Sunday 26 Carib Theatre Kingston*

Rise Up   is a movie/documentary written & directed by Luciano Blotta,
an independent  argentinian filmaker.
Is a journey to the heart of Jamaica.
The movie  showcases  and tells the story of Jamaica's underground
music community and  struggles, dreams and aspirations of three young artists.
RiseUp features Turbulence, a charismatic lyrical master from the ghetto
in Kingston; Ice, a songwriter from uptown St Andrew and Kemoy,
a timid but very gifted  songstress from Clarendon.
This movie is  totally fresh, good riddims in it too { check the site for a sneak peak }
and the director  goes close and personal. His style is simple but original and authentic.
Rise Up took almost four years to be completed and it's inspired by and
features the graffitied walls in Kingston, Clarendon's views,
Mobay beaches and dancehall parties scattered all over the island
portraying beauty, violence, poverty, inequality ,talent, music, dreams of some
young insiders of the Jamrock underground scene.
Blotta also features veteran jamaican musicians and celebrates and honors
reggae music and his pioneers and between them legends as
Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare.
The word Premiere for the movie is been the International Documentary
Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), followed by a sneak preview  at True/False
Film Festival in Missouri where it received the Top Ten Audience Award.
This movie has been racking up awards, official selections for world-renowned
festivals, rave reviews and screening in over 20 countries and is going
to be finally screen also in Jamaica on Sunday 26 October  at the historic
Carib Cinema in Kingston and opens in theatres islandwide the following day.
RiseUp already won the Best Music Documentary Award from the Silver Docs
an American Film Institute, and Discovery Channel Film Festival.
Earlier this year Rise Up was also chosen by  New York's Lincoln Center Film Society
to celebrate Black History Month and the film was broadcasted by many networks
worldwide, including BBC.
Born in Argentina and based in Los Angeles, Blotta grew up loving  Marley's
music.
When he was a student at the University of Miami, he was invited
to Jamaica where he discovered the music of some of the upcoming Jamaican
artist. Botta with his genuinity surely created some sort of Contemporary
Masterpiece about Jamrock
and this is going to become a classic as
"The harder they come"  or "Shotta".

Don 't be lazy and go to the movie theatres i also heard of a party in TelAviv
with the film crew Sunday night in Kingston.
