*STING 27 * PORTMORE 26/12/2010*

Sting is being defined "the Greatest One-Night Reggae Show on Earth",
it goes down in Portmore, Jamaica, Kingston and this year  is the
27th edition.
This year's edition was launched at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel,
New Kingston, on Tuesday ,announcing  Sting re added the Warriors
category and  embraced a new main partner, telecommunications
company LIME, first major sponsor in a couple of  years, after Guinness
pulled off .
In past years, a 'Warriors' category on a Sting concert would mean a
clash was definitely in the making, but not at the 27th staging, which
takes place at Jam World on December 26.
There will be a "Warriors" Category but not a clash even if  Bounty Killer,
Beenie Man and Vybz Kartel, which has proved a volatile mix in the past,
are part of the crew of 13, which also include Etana, Khago and I-Octane.
There are also 13 'Bag Girls' including the 'Bad Gyal' Ce'Cile, Lisa Hyper,
D'Angel, Ikaya, Face, Pamputae and Tifa.
Also a  surprise performer is slated to hit the stage at 11:45 p.m.
Twin of Twins, Food Kartel, Tanto Blacks and Apache and Sarge have
been charged with providing a combination of laughter and insight
as the 'Sting Commentators'
Sunshine, Bambino and Liquid are designated 'Sting Disc Jocks', with
Nesbeth, Zamunda, Cush Hunta, Shawn Storm, Popcaan
and Charlie Blacks are among those in the 'Spotlight' segment.
Who can't  make it to venue on Boxing Day Portmore, St Catherine, will
still be able to follow the action live via LIME Mobile Tv.
Lisa Hyper song about her leaving the camp.

*Origins of Portmore Empire*

Some background about  di Portmore Empire.
Former member of the Bounty Killer-led Alliance, Vybz Kartel aka
Addi di Teacha, formed his own alliance of artists called the
‘Portmore Empire’, to develop the talents of a group of artists in order
to propel them to successful careers in the music business, after
the separation with Bounty Killer .
“Portmore Empire is about a group of artists coming together for the
betterment of music, a musical unit covering artists, selectors, cassette
man, everybody. It’s origin is in Portmore, but it nuh limited,” from
Kartel own words in spring 2007 when the project was shaped  and
included artists like Avalanche, Nuclear, Deva Bratt, Shawn Storm,
Blak Ryno, Omeil from Spanish Town, known as the “first lady of the
Portmore Empire,” and Likkle Danger, from Spanish Town. Many new artists joined the Gaza Family and some  left di

Camp for good like Lysa Hyper, Gaza Kim, Blak Ryno but the rise
of the Empire is undeniable and everyday since a new hot song
on some killah riddim is out or some new never heard before
artist is havin a chance to shine
Here some old Portmore Empire videos.

*Wha Gwan Popcaan*

All the Gaza Camp Artists are very gifted and have a lot of
songs out there,Popcaan, real name  Andre Sutherland, is
the one i love most, the one that had me fall in love for Gaza
and one of the youngest in the camp so far (with Dotta Coppa).
Popcaan  songs are so real, so intense, he can sings and he
can rap and his style his unique and very personal, you can't
confuse him and his voice with nobody's else in the Gaza Camp .
When he sings his voice runs like a bassline and  there's nothing
like him out there .Is one of a kind.A raising star in the Gaza Fam.
Any line he drops is fresh and real and is not a surprise that he's
getting known out there, overall after the quick european mini
tour with Vybz that left crowds thirsty for more.
Born on July 1990 he met Vybz Kartel in 2007 while doing his
thing called "My Scheme" and got invited to join Vybz in the studio.
Lately is been hectic recording new songs, new videos and being
in tour with Vybez as well as the recent show in Kingston with
Shawn Storm last friday.
His favorite artists are Vybz Kartel and Sizzla, and his advice to
young artists is to stay real and true to everything they do
in order to be on top of their game, exactly what he's doing !
In 2009 his career took off with hits like Nuh Ordinary Girl,
Never Lose A War,Formula in 2010 with  Gangsta City,Fake Friend,
New Year,Up Inna Club, Clarks and Clarks Again which is playing
on heavy rotation in radio stations like Hot 97 introducing the
young Portmore's artist to a bigger audience.
Every song is a MasterPiece.
One of his latest success, Dream, appears to be autobiographical,
telling the story of his journey from "ghetto youth" to Adidjahiem
Record label's top talents.
Popcaan is real. The Real Thing. He's singing his life story. There is
no fiction .
Every ghetto youth hopes one day to rise out of the slum,he 's on
his way to fullfilling his "Dream" and he wants his life to be an
inspiration for anyone out there in Jamaica. A lot of ghetto youth
can be inspire and relate to his story and his struggle.
Big Ups and Big Thanx Popcaan!!!
